- What can you expect from your body once you hit 50?
Your bone density diminishes along with muscles, endurance, and flexibility. It is important to include weightlifting to help slow the aging process in your physical activity routine.
- What can you do to get started on an exercise program?
If you are over 50 and haven’t been physically active in a while, speak with your healthcare provider. Do a little research on physical activities and what’s appropriate for your age group.
- Which exercises are the most anti-aging?
brisk walking, weight lifting, yoga
- What else can I do to get ‘fit for life’ besides exercising?
Eat healthy, no smoking, limit drinking, and learn something new.
- What is the best diet for people over 50? I encourage a plant-based lifestyle also check out the FDA “Healthy Plate” to see what’s appropriate for you. And if you are trying to lose weight, look into the Weight Watcher’s program I have had success when I used it.
- What about vitamins and supplements?
Again, talk with your healthcare provider and do your research.

Weightlifting is the main type of exercise to get your bones and joints strong along with reduced drinking, and a low-calorie diet.
- How do you improve your balance?
Standing on one foot is good, and yoga is another way to improve your balance.
- How can you prevent Dementia?
Quit smoking, healthy eating, avoid excessive alcohol, and protect your head from injury.
- Should you use a personal trainer?
Yes, if it fits your budget, because they can make your exercise program safer, more effective, and more fun.
